Ing Dr. Patrick Amoah Bekoe is a Chief Civil Engineer with specialization in geotechnical, pavements, structures and transportation engineering. He also has a speciality in transportation economics and project management. He is a consummate Public Administrator and has risen within the Civil Service ranks of Ghana. Patrick has over 21 years post qualification experience and is a registered Professional Geotechnical Engineer in the State of Texas-USA, a member of the Order of the Engineer- USA, and a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE). He is currently the Executive Representative for Professional Engineers,  Chairman of the Membership Committee and Co-chair of the Infrastructure Report Card Committee of GhIE. He is also the Vice Chair of the Education and Training Committee of the Engineering Council of Ghana. Additionally, he is a member of the American Concrete Institute where he serves on various committees. Patrick also serves as a reviewer for various international journals. 


Patrick obtained his doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Florida, USA, in May 2013. He obtained a Master of Engineering in the same field in August 2009 and a Master of Arts in Economics in May 2013 both from the University of Florida. In June 2002, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. Patrick after completing his PhD also had a two-year university lecturing experience before returning to Ghana where he taught courses in Civil Engineering Materials, Transportation Planning, Transport Economics, Engineering Economics, Transportation Asset Management, Road Design, and Research Methods in Engineering
 

Patrick has been working at the Department of Feeder Roads (DFR) in Ghana since September, 2003 and is currently working at the Development divisions of Department's Head Office in Accra. He is the National Research Coordinator at the Ministry of Roads and Highways and has been spearheading research activities in rural access and transport.  He is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science where he instructs Foundation Engineering and Design and Transportation Economics Courses both at the Post-Graduate Level. He is also a Fellow of the Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani, Ghana. 
 

Patrick is the National Coordinator for the African Community Access Project (AfCAP) and the West and Southern Africa Regional Manager of the International Road Federation (IRF)

 

Patrick is married to Rita, a Senior Accounting Lecturer at the University of Ghana and they are blessed with three delightful children, Nhyira, Aseda and Nkunim.
